I would like to say a huge thank you to National Grid Electricity Distribution and the Community Matters Fund for their much-needed support. This grant has had a powerful and tangible impact—enabling us to deliver a values-driven, social investment that provides practical opportunities for care leavers and people with criminal records to rebuild their lives and contribute to their communities.

Thanks to National Grid’s support, our Building Futures Together partnership has been able to offer hands-on experience in building and retrofitting homes, alongside a clear employment pathway that takes participants from first stepping stones to becoming job-ready and employable. Our dedicated careers platform also connects individuals with criminal records to real job opportunities with inclusive employers.

This is a high-impact, scalable model with proven outcomes in reducing reoffending, increasing housing stability, and supporting long-term recovery and employment. As a social enterprise group, we are committed to driving sustainable change by investing in people. The ‘Together’ approach and its combined impacts are a testament to what’s possible when funders like National Grid back practical, transformative solutions.
